We are passionate about letting the next generation know about Jesus and seeing our young people grow in their faith and develop their relationship with God. At Emmanuel, our 11-18s are encouraged to increase their understanding of worship and learn more about the Bible, whilst on the way growing together in fellowship, supporting and encouraging each other in the other areas of their lives.
We meet with the rest of the church for the main meeting, beginning with worship led by a band. The 11-14s then leave for their own meeting, where they participate in different activities, games and learn together in a way that is applicable and accessible for them. Our older 14-18s group also go out for their own discussion group once a fortnight.
Both our 11-14s group and our 14-18s also meet at other times during the week to spend more time together and to keep learning more about Jesus. These times usually include games, worship and studying the Bible but we also meet for social events, such as bowling and film nights.
In the autumn each year, we have our youth weekend away, which is lots of fun and provides a great opportunity for young people to build friendships, learn more about God and experience His presence in times of worship together. It’s also brilliant for our young people to be able to meet with other young Christians at organised events and being part of Newfrontiers really facilitates that; one such event is Amplify, a regional youth event currently based in Newcastle. We also take a group of young people to Newday, the Newfrontiers annual youth event incorporating worship, teaching and social action as well as lots of free time spent in cafes, on the dodgems, playing basketball or whatever takes your fancy!
