Faith Clubs

The Hub - Faith Clubs

Those involved in The Hub community are encouraged to be in Faith Clubs. Faith Clubs are groups of 2-4 people of the same gender who meet regularly, ideally weekly or fortnightly, at a place and time most suitable. The focus of the time together is to share the joys and struggles of life, spurring one another on in the adventure of following Jesus. Faith Clubs are encouraged to read a book of the Bible or a Christian book based on the Bible together as a foundation for discussion about real life issues. The purpose of meeting together is to ‘fight the good fight of the faith’ (1 Tim.6:12), by confessing sin and speaking the good news of the gospel of Jesus to one another.

Faith Clubs run in addition to and compliment the church’s structure of Small Groups and Missional Communities. They can be formed out of pre-existing close friendships, but they are also a great opportunity to develop new friendships and to draw newcomers into these close friendships. Once a Faith Club reaches 4 people they are encouraged to multiply in order to retain the small intimate feel.

For more information, or to show your interest in joining a Faith Club, contact Alternatively, find one or two other people and start one yourself!

Hub Weekend Away

Every year we go away for a weekend as a community of student & 20s to spend time focusing on Jesus and getting to know him better through good Bible teaching and the ministry of the Spirit. There is also lots of food, games and laughter - a great combination!
The date for this year's weekend away is 30th Jan - 1st Feb 2015

Hub Alpha

Emmanuel Church Durham - Student Alpha Hub Alpha runs over 7 weeks and gives students & 20's an opportunity to explore the meaning of life. Every session kicks off with a free meal and a talk, followed by discussion in groups where no question is off-limits. For more information visit our Hub Alpha page.

Small groups & Missional Communities

Students & 20s are encouraged to join one of Emmanuel's university missional communities or a wider church small group (click here) in which they will mix together with members of the wider church.

We have a weekly early morning student prayer and worship gathering on the top floor at Alington House on Saddler Street. Croissants and coffee are provided

Do just what they say on the tin! Baptisms are held regularly throughout the year, and they always promise to be a great celebration with some very wet (but very happy) people.

Adopt a student

University often means that we don’t get time in a family very often, and so we encourage students to be 'adopted' by a family in the church, who will connect with them over food a couple of times each term.
